Writing my memory lane

It will be quite interesting to write about my childhood days through college. Having to travel from one place to another almost every year, it was a nice experience to script it down mentioning the variety of people I met, the eclectic places I lived in, the things myself and my brother enjoyed doing (sometimes mischievous), etc. One thing was always running in the minds of everyone in the family. It was, "hopefully, we will stay here for as many years as possible." My mind said, "I will be in this place till I finish my college." But, those notions didn't work as we moved from these places - Chikmagalur, Kyatsandra, Tumkur, Shimoga, Hubli and finally Bangalore. Just a note: I changed three schools in Shimoga in the span of 12 months! By the time I completed my 10th standard, I had studied in 10 schools. Hopefully, one day, I will be able to write all my experiences articulately!

Stage set for the move

Things are getting ready for a relocation from MA back to the Kingdom of Utah. I love this state because of its proximity to many beautiful National Parks in the US. The place is less expensive compared to other bigger cities in the US. I also find the people here being more friendly. Overall, a nice place to live if one loves nature and has a decent job in hand! From the archives... My first home I lived in Utah.

Tiny, yet powerful

Image
Just wondered, "they are so small, yet powerful!". Those tiny tablets which the doctors prescribe look so small and the effects of them are so remarkable. How do these small things make wonders in our body? As a kid, I always wondered, "how does this capsule heal my headache?" My question was in the lines of ... "that medicine goes to stomach and how does it go to head so fast?". Having fallen sick and taken such small, tiny, powerful tablets for the last 2 days, I am almost back to normal. Must thank all those chemistry-waale, bio-technology-waale, and all those who come up with such medicines. Surely, those biotech-waale should not become nanotech-waale ;).

Mayflower and Thanksgiving

What is Mayflower? Why is there no Thanksgiving in England? The ship below is Mayflower II. Mayflower II, Plymouth, Cape Cod (which is 30-minute drive from my house!) A quick run through a small history.... Protestant reformation in England in late 1550s saw a group of Puritans move to Holland. Not able to bear the struggle to keep up their traditions, they planned to move to Virginia by making travel arrangements with Virginia Company. A group of 35 Pilgrims with 70 more known as "Strangers" started their journey in 1620. Instead of arriving in Virginia, they landed in Cape Cod (current New England). This created a conflict between the "Strangers" and Pilgrims. Slowly, due to severe weather and disease, most of these colonists died. Only half of the colonists remained who were helped by the friendly local people (Native Americans). Colonists learned to hunt and raise crops. In the celebration of the first crop in Fall, they thanked the locals. Hence, came into US t...
