Road sense in India

Recently, I was driving on the NICE road in Bangalore. It is a tolled highway and speed of vehicles is as high as 120 Kms/hr. While I was driving at 80 on a curve, a car came from opposite direction! Because the guy at the toll-gate broke the rule and allowed this wrong side driver, this happened. Blame both involved in committing the mistake.

There are so many offences I notice on road that I pity the ministry for losing money for not collecting penalties. Talking about NICE road, here are some of the offences:
1. Drivers change tracks without blinkers. Strictly speaking, it is an offence as per books we read before getting a driver's license. I see this offence with EVERY driver.
2. Trucks move at 30 Kms/hr on the fastest lane. It is clearly written that slower vehicles are supposed to keep left. Truck driver don't bother to read the sign boards.
3. Stopping on the freeway - It is written everywhere - Still, people stop for taking photo, or to pee! What a bad place for such things when vehicles are zooming at 100 Kms/hr few feet away!
4. Goats eating grass - who allowed goats on the freeway? The owner of those goats should be taken to task.
NICE authorities need to tighten up their socks. They are eating money of the people by collecting heavy toll-fee.

Within Bangalore city limits, there is an offence by road users every second. If the road has a divider, I see people coming on wrong side of the road. It is easily permitted here.

City buses stop in the center of the road. Don't know if there is any penalty for such a thing. Still, it is a nuisance to see buses stopping abruptly in the center of the street.

Helmet offenders - I see this quite often.

Mobile phone - 2 wheel riders are experts in using mobile phones while riding. They can see the road with their head 45 degrees tilted. Both hands are on the handle. They balance the phone between their chin and shoulder. Their acrobatics will lead to losing balance and obstructing vehicular traffic.

Parking - People park their vehicles as they wish. There is no worry if there is a 'no parking' board just right in front of them. 1 in 100 times (a rare chance), vehicle may get towed. This rule is broken by commercial vehicles - trucks, autos, cabs, etc.

Unfortunately, I notice that most of the offenders are educated/literate. If this is the mentality of the people, there is no scope of improvement in decades to come. Roads better be bad than being good. This will make people drive slow. Road sense is very poor in India. I haven't seen like this anywhere in the world where ever I have been.
