Chill Thrill
We are finally flying today. It is a successful story after all the thrillers. First, visa/passport not arriving; second, both falling badly sick.
Passport story first - Interview was held on 7th (Monday) January and passport was expected to arrive in 3-4 days. It was 11th (Friday) night. We checked the status online to know the reason of the delay. The message read, "Your passport has not been handed over to VFS." This means, the passport is still on the desk of US Consular and has not left their office. Once it leaves that office, it has to be handed over to Courier and that will again take 2-3 days for delivery.
We saw the calender of US Consulate, Chennai and it mentioned, "Tuesday - Holiday for US Consulate on the occasion of Pongal". So, if they take action on Monday (14th), we might (50% chance) have a chance of receiving it on Thursday morning/evening. Monday was the action day. We first called Call Center Number. We got the same information, "Passport has not been sent to VFS", which we already knew. Then, after much request, we got one email ID to which we emailed requested for quick action.
It was 12:30 pm, Monday, and I checked the status online - "Your passport is ready for pickup at the counter. If you don't pick before 5pm, we will courier it". We were satisfied and happy. We contacted Blue Dart, Bangalore on Tuesday and they said, "Your passport is still in Chennai Blue Dart. They are closed for Pongal today (Tuesday) and also partial closed on Wednesday." With all those uncertainties, we got the passport on Wednesday afternoon.
Second story - fever farewell. Fever struck both of us on Tuesday after completing heavy travel of distributing Sankranti 'eLLu'. By 3pm, our energy meter was in red level. Once we had a nap after late lunch, it was the welcome of high temperature drama of hide and seek fever. At this moment too, I am at 100.1 and my wife is at 101.2. Twelve hours to board the flight and this is our plight.
