During those days...

It is usual for us to think about, "during those days..." stories. Today's Malls in India are so huge and attractive that a family can spend the whole day inside - start with a breakfast, do some shopping, have lunch, watch a movie in the multiplex and then go home in the night. I think this is very much happening with many there.

10-15 years ago, there was no concept of "Malls". All we had were some big stores like the Kids Kemp. Apart from this store, a chain which caught people's attention was "LifeStyle". This is what we can call "Malls" of 1990s. Do you remember one more chain - "The Wearhouse"? That was becoming popular when we were in Hubli. That store was across the street from where we lived and we hardly bought anything there. I think all those chains didn't last long.

Now, with malls like Forum, Big Bazaar, Garuda etc., coming up, I think shopping is more fun than ever before. Oh, the word "shop" reminded me of "Shopper's Stop". How is that doing now-a-days?

Good topic..Currently, Retail is "the thing" in India.

Shopper's Stop is doing great. They claim the destinction of number one company to bring organized retail to India. I know they moved to Garuda Mall and also opened one on Bannerghatta Road. They've a dynamic CEO..when you get time, read about him. It's interesting how he went about creating the company..
